Montecristo Espada Oscuro

Espada Oscuro is essentially a darker, spicier sequel to the original Espada — an all‑Nicaraguan puro born from Altadis' Grupo de Maestros working with the Plasencia family and finished in a Plasencia Habano Rosado Oscuro leaf. Most assessments put it in the medium to medium‑full strength range; dense construction and oily leaf give the cigar a warming, persistent profile that often nudges strength up in the final third. Flavor starts on a backbone of cocoa and leather, with cedar and black pepper fronting earthy mineral notes and nutty, bready midtones (walnut, almond, malt/caramel); baking spice and occasional char or mesquite show as the cigar progresses. Texture runs creamy to slightly toothy, with a long peppered finish and a retrohale that amplifies spice and cedar. The Oscuro wrapper is the distinguishing feature here, dialing the Montecristo template toward darker, spicier territory while reliable Plasencia construction keeps draw and burn honest across the Ricasso (5×54), Guard (6×50) and Quillon (7×56).
