Montecristo Epic

Assembled by Altadis's Grupo de Maestros, Montecristo Epic was created as a fuller‑bodied offshoot of the Montecristo stable and packaged as a statement cigar—boxed with certificates and finished bands. The blend pairs a Select Ecuadorian Habano wrapper with a Nicaraguan binder over aged Dominican and Nicaraguan long fillers, some drawn from older harvests. Construction is firm and dense; these are built to burn long and produce thick, aromatic smoke. Epic leans toward wood and coffee rather than the house's milder balance: expect chocolate and espresso‑style coffee, cedar and toasted oak, caramel and brown sugar sweetness, with nutty notes and a background of black pepper or baking spice. Texture is often creamy and slightly oily through the midsection, with retrohale spice and a finish that drifts to toasted wood and espresso. Overall strength sits in the medium‑full to full lane—richer and more muscular than most mainstream Montecristos—and the line's insistence on aged fillers gives it a vintage, depth‑first character that rewards a stronger cup or spirit alongside the smoke.
