About Enclave

Enclave launched in 2015 as A.J. Fernández’s value‑for‑performance family. The original Ecuadorian Habano Rosado version sits on a Cameroon binder with Nicaraguan fillers and leans medium, carrying cedar, pepper and coffee notes. The Connecticut Broadleaf maduro introduced in 2017 moves sweeter—mocha and earth—and climbs toward medium–full. Reviews praise consistent construction and the way two distinct wrappers offer different smoking impressions while sharing the same Nicaraguan backbone.

ALL LINES

Enclave Broadleaf is AJ Fernandez’s Connecticut Broadleaf–wrapped take on the Enclave, built over a Nicaraguan binder with Estelí, Jalapa and Pueblo Nuevo fillers. Introduced in 2017 and offered in the standard Enclave vitolas, it leans earth‑forward with cocoa and coffee notes, cedar and a peppered retrohale while strength climbs from medium into medium–full.

Filler

Nicaraguan long-filler (Estelí, Jalapa, Pueblo Nuevo)

This is the maduro cousin of the original Enclave: a dark, slightly toothy Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper laid over an unmistakably Nicaraguan backbone. The Broadleaf skin brings sweet, mocha‑like leather and an oily smoke that amplifies the fillers’ spice and wood. Expect an earthy core threaded with cocoa and coffee, cedar and baking‑spice accents, and a peppered retrohale; an upfront sweetness keeps the leather and char balanced while the finish settles toward cedar, dark chocolate and a lingering black‑pepper bite in later stages. Construction and draw are commonly strong, and the line’s familiar Robusto, Toro, Belicoso and Churchill formats let the wrapper do its reshaping without demanding a different smoking approach.

Ecuadorian Habano

Habano

ALL LINES

Enclave Habano combines an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper with a Cameroon binder and Nicaraguan filler and is offered in Robusto, Toro, Figurado and Churchill. It sits in the medium strength lane with cedar, black pepper, earth and a modest sweetness, and generally solid construction for the price.

Filler

Nicaraguan (Piloto Cubano / AJF Select)

Practical and balanced, this Enclave variant trades heavy bravado for a well‑measured Habano character. The Ecuadorian wrapper brings bready cedar and light cocoa; the Cameroon binder contributes delicate sweetness while the Nicaraguan filler provides backbone. Flavor notes run cedar and black pepper with earthy and coffee touches and a pleasant, restrained sweetness that often appears in the second third. The Figurado merits special mention for concentrating flavor and delivering nuanced transitions when the draw is right; otherwise the core sizes offer dependable AJF spice and wood in a straightforward package.

Frequently Asked Questions

Enclave is offered in two clear expressions: the Habano (Ecuadorian Habano Rosado wrapper over a Cameroon binder and Nicaraguan fillers) and the Broadleaf (Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler). The Habano tends toward cedar, pepper and coffee with a medium strength, while the Broadleaf brings sweeter, mocha‑and‑earth notes and typically builds into a medium–to–medium‑full finish.
