The San Andrés leaf gives a savory, slightly charred opening—earth and leather—while the Dominican interior supplies rounded cedar, dark chocolate/cocoa and a brown sugar sweetness that can drift into raisin or dried fruit notes. A black pepper lift generally builds into the last third, keeping the finish lively rather than blunt. What distinguishes the 1994 is the consistent use of that San Andrés top leaf against estate Dominican core—dark, sometimes toothy wrapper oiliness meeting a cedar forward filler for a tobacco first, full bodied smoke.
