What is the Year of the Dragon blend?

Year of the Dragon pairs a Mexican San Andrés wrapper with a double‑binder construction and an aged Nicaraguan‑heavy filler (lots noted from 2014). The binder reporting varies slightly across outlets, but the overall design prioritizes density and a coffee/dark‑chocolate flavor core.

How strong is the cigar?

Editorial coverage places Year of the Dragon in the medium to medium‑full strength lane, with a pronounced early pepper and a coffee/espresso midpalate that carries through the smoke.

How limited is the release?

The U. S. Toro release was a limited allocation — reports note 6, 000 boxes of 10 for the U. S. Toro — and the line was released in three market‑specific sizes rather than as a broad worldwide roll‑out.

Where were these cigars produced?

Production is reported to have taken place at Tabacalera Villa Cuba S. A. (TAVICUSA) in Estelí, Nicaragua.

How strong is the cigar and what flavors dominate?

Strength sits in the medium to medium‑full lane. Dominant flavors are coffee/espresso and dark chocolate, with a spicy black pepper backbone, earth, and occasional cinnamon and dried‑cherry accents.

Flavor Profile

Coffee, espresso, dark chocolate/cocoa, black pepper, earth, cinnamon, dried cherry

Year of the Dragon is a limited, San Andrés‑wrapped release using all‑Nicaraguan filler aged from 2014 and a double‑binder approach to increase structure. The blend leans toward coffee and espresso early, with dark‑chocolate and cocoa undertones and a backbone of black pepper and earth; intermittent cherry or fruit notes surface during transitions. Strength sits medium‑to‑medium‑full and the cigar's presentation—red‑and‑gold livery and selective boxings—underscores its limited nature. It's a focused, aged San Andrés statement built for smokers who want roast and depth with an occasional fruit edge.
