About OZ Family Bosphorus

OZ Family Bosphorus debuted in 2022 as Tim Ozgener’s flagship, built around an Ecuadorian Habano (Habana 2000) wrapper with dual binders and Nicaraguan fillers. The box‑pressed line lives in the medium‑full lane, opening on black pepper and toasted oak before moving toward cocoa, coffee, cedar and a toffee finish. Bosphorus has collected strong scores from Cigar Aficionado and even includes a limited Laguito No. 6 with a closed foot and pigtail cap.

Pepper to Toffee

OZ Family Bosphorus

Bosphorus is a box‑pressed, medium–full OZ Family cigar built on an Ecuadorian Habano (Habana 2000) wrapper with a dual‑binder approach (Ecuadorian Connecticut‑seed and Nicaraguan Jalapa) and a three‑region Nicaraguan filler from Estelí, Jalapa and Ometepe. The smoke opens spicy—black pepper and toasted oak—then settles into cocoa, dark coffee, cedar and a toffee‑like finish. Production was later moved to Tabacalera La Alianza under Ernesto Pérez‑Carrillo, a shift that tightened consistency across releases.

Bosphorus is deliberately box‑pressed and constructed around a Habana 2000 wrapper over a double‑binder and Nicaraguan long‑fillers. It begins with a toasted‑oak, leather and black‑pepper entrance, then eases into darker, dessert‑leaning territory—cocoa powder, espresso, graham‑like sweetness and touches of cedar and nutmeg—often finishing with a toffee note. The press gives the smoke a slightly chewier texture and a compact feel in hand; reviewers report steady core flavors and modest variation between vitolas. The later move to Tabacalera La Alianza and the wrapper configuration explain some differences between early and later examples and help account for the line’s improved consistency.
