I'm from Los Angeles and am here in Narragansett for an extended 4th of July vacation. I make it a mission to seek out a cigar shop and smoke a stogie in every country and major city I visit. The Cigar Shop didn't disappoint. It's quaint in the corner cigar shop tradition of small, stocked with meaningful selections, knowledgeable staff, and atmosphere. Some fun stories were overheard too. People wanting that chic concierge Four Seasons experience should reconsider where they are. I'll take local flare and personality any day.

I have visited the shop over the past few years and the same thing has happened every time. The older gentleman who works there gets off the couch when you walk in and proceeds to stand right behind you as you view the selection of cigars case by display case. This makes me uneasy and projects the feeling that he thinks I am going to steal a cigar. I am a 55 yo professional and the last time I visited he started to do this I respectively told how it made me feel and that he should let customers view the cigars without him lurking right behind you. I explained it makes me feel like he thinks I am going to steal something, which of course I would never do, and he should be customer friendly, not distrusting. He said and I quote, "Well if that's how you feel we don't want customers like you." I said thank you and left the store without purchasing any cigars and I will never return.
