Happen to pass this little store & read reviews about their poke so we had to try it out. Glad we did! It was fresh and gave great portions of fish. The people were friendly as well. Good selection of beers, wine, & liquor as well.

We received a dubious recommendation to get poke from this liquor store. Wowweee did it deliver in a major way. They label the poke for what is local/fresh or frozen. We loved the Tamura special one. Bit thick pieces and a great price

You’d never fess that a liquor store would have decent fresh poke in the back. I like that they label what’s fresh and what’s previously frozen to give you a choice. All the Ahi is fresh since it’s local. My favorite is the Jalepeno Poke with its flavor and light spiciness. Next is the kimchee tako which I found too be a little salty. It was still good but it doesn’t taste like kimchee. Last I had the shoyu ahi poke. I’m glad they give the soy sauce separate. The soy taste is too strong and overpowers the tuna. There is some seasoning here and it taste fine by itself. Definitely come here if you’ve never had poke before.

In A Nutshell: -How did we learn about Tamura's? -After talking to people who actually live on Maui, we found out this is the best place to grab poke on the island. -Although it's a liquor store, they have a huge selection of poke towards the back right of the store. -Their poke is good. -You might as well stock up on some beer & wine while you're at it. Overall, you should stop here after you land at OGG, since it's on the way to where you will probably stay.

Love the poke here. Always try to stop by on the way from or to the airport. Worth a stop by to try the poke bowl, and other items. Had the ninja poke and the fried garlic. Both fresh instead of frozen. haven't tried both side by side to compare, but when fresh is available why not (albeit at a 2x price difference...)? The fried garlic wasn't over powering as I was afraid, really pleasant mild flavor.
