Impressive selection and friendly staff. So much Scotch I wanted to try, at reasonable prices demonstrating strong curation (Compass Box Flaming Heart, Cadenheads Enigma 25, McLean's Nose, Arndamurchan Migie, Ledaig Triple Wood, Clydeside, Wolfburn 10, various Signatories) and interesting world whisky (Kanosuke, Stauning, etc.). I needed a smaller bottle for traveling and there were only very basic options available here (Old Forester 375mls and junk booze miniatures). They could better serve downtown travelers in this regard but I'm not complaining because the security needed for half bottles was already pretty tight, so perhaps there's no great solution. If you have three people in your party, buying an interesting bottle here could be a more fun adventure for whisky lovers than most hotel bars.

Purchased a bottle of Christian Drouin Cidre Pays d’Auge (apple cider) on 12/22/25 from this location and it was unfortunately undrinkable. Upon opening, it had an extremely off flavor and aroma, somewhere between wet dog and burnt hair, which strongly suggests the bottle was faulty or spoiled. This is a well-known producer, so this felt more like a storage or quality control issue than an issue with the cider style itself. Flagging this so staff can check the remaining stock.

Binnys on Grand Ave is my favorite local liquor store. Staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. Always engage and are very inclined to make great recommendations of asked. They have great selection, depth and bredth, across every alcohol category you could wish to buy. I highly recommend visiting Binny's Downtown to acquire your alcoholic desires. They will not let you down.

It's busy but they get you in and out and for a smaller location, they've made good use of every bit of the space, staff were friendly and approachable. I had a few questions and the teams product knowledge was on point. Plus there is parking and since its busy it can be tight maneuvering but we have the greatest drivers in Chicago so all is well.

I could wander around Binny’s for hours looking at the pretty bottles. I usually go to the gigantic Jefferson Street location, but stopped into the Grand Ave location, which is much smaller, but still has a great selection. Free, easy parking. Very helpful staff.
