  • 4Tax and Compliance reporting and collection are built into Cigar Trader but all filings and payments made to local, state, and federal jurisdictions are made by Shop Owners.

FAQ

What if I already have a website?

Even if you already have a website, Cigar Trader can still be a strong option if you do not have ecommerce functionality, lack the compliance and payment setup required for tobacco sales, or want to leverage our dropship catalog to expand selection without managing inventory.

What if I want full control over the customer journey on my website?

Full Commerce Platform and Full Commerce (Dropship Only) plans allow you to manage your own checkout, payments, and customer orders directly.

Am I responsible for payments, compliance, and orders?

If you're on Full Commerce Platform or Full Commerce (Dropship Only), you handle payments, tax/compliance, and order processing. On the Cigar Trader Managed Store plan, Cigar Trader handles payments, compliance, and fulfillment.

Do I need to manage product inventory?

Only the Full Commerce Platform offers you the option to manage your own catalog and inventory. Other Retailer plans can use the Cigar Trader dropship catalog exclusively.

Can I sell my own in-store inventory online?

Yes. The Full Commerce Platform supports selling your own products online and offering buy online, pickup in-store.

How are payments processed?

Credit card processing for tobacco purchases can be tricky. Tagged as a high-risk product, many processors like Stripe and Square don't accept tobacco. We have secured great rates (3.2% + $0.30/transaction) and secure processing backed by 2 banking relationships. The unavoidable VISA and Mastercard high risk fees are charged yearly at $950 and $500 yearly respectively.

Why do I only pay the setup fee today?

Monthly platform fees begin after onboarding once your store is ready to launch.

Can I upgrade my plan later?

Yes. All plans are designed to scale as your retail operation grows.

How do affiliate commissions work?

Retailers on the Cigar Trader Managed Store plan earn 15% on all orders for their first 3 months, then earn 10% on orders from new customer orders and 5% on orders from existing customers placed through their storefront.
